Getting started

  • Make sure you're in the U.S. and on our wireless network.
  • You can download the update via Firmware Over the Air (FOTA).
  • You must connect your device to Wi-Fi® to download the update.
  • Although there should be no impacts to settings or data, we recommend backing up your media files to an SD card, a computer, or using a favorite application, before updating the software.

Update & verify software

Download & install software update
  1. Make sure your device is fully charged and connected to Wi-Fi.
  2. From the device home screen, press the App tray button.
  3. Press the down directional button to highlight the Settings app, then press the Select button.
  4. Press the down directional button to highlight About phone, then press the Select button. 
  5. Press the Select button to select AT&T Software Update. 
  6. Press the Select button to select Check for Updates. 
  7. Follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update.
  8. The device automatically restarts once the new software successfully installs.

Verify software update
  1. From the device home screen, press the App tray button.
  2. Press the down directional button to highlight the Settings app, then press the Select button.
  3. Press the down directional button to highlight About phone, then press the Select button. 
  4. Press the down directional button to highlight to Firmware version to view the device's software version.
  5. Press the down directional button to highlight to Build number to view the device's Build number.
  6. If the Android and Software version don't match the current update; perform additional updates until they do.
