Wireless receiver replacement

Note your screen resolution setting

Before you begin, take note of your TV screen resolution setting on the receiver to be replaced, if possible. You will need to verify or reset the screen resolution on the new receiver.
  1. Press MENU on your remote. The Menu screen should display on your TV. If your receiver can’t display the menu screen, skip this section.
  2. Select Options.
  3. Select System.
  4. Press OK.
  5. Select TV screen resolution (SD/HD).
  6. Press OK and note your current screen resolution.

Replace your wireless receiver

To replace your wireless receiver, you’ll need to exchange your old and new receivers, connect your wireless receiver to your TV, and pair your new receiver with your Wireless Access Point (WAP) device.

Exchange receivers
  1. Unplug the existing receiver from the electrical outlet.
  2. Remove the power cord.
  3. If possible, stack the new receiver on top of the receiver to be replaced.
  4. Carefully remove one connection at a time from the receiver to be replaced and reconnect to the new receiver. The connectors on the back panel of the new receiver may be arranged differently, but the names, shapes, and colors will be the same.

  5. Before connecting the coaxial cable to the To Wall (Video In) port of the receiver, slide the clear plastic jumper sleeve over the front end of the connector on the coaxial cable, if the cable does not currently have one.
  6. Be sure that the hex-shaped notch is seated firmly over the hex nut of the connector.
  7. Using your fingers, apply sufficient force to tighten the connector to the receiver.
  8. If your receiver is connected to the home network with CAT5 Ethernet cabling instead of the coaxial cable, plug the Ethernet cable into the Network port of the new receiver.

Connect your new receiver to a TV

Note: Do not use the old receiver’s power cord with the new receiver.
  1. Connect the new receiver to your TV.
  2. Power on your TV.
  3. Using your TV remote control, select the correct configuration for your TV. For example, if you used an HDMI cable to connect your receiver to the TV, select HDMI. Consult your TV manual for details.
  4. Plug the new receiver power cord into the back of the TV receiver and the other end into a working electrical outlet. The TV receiver will power up automatically.
  5. Wait about a minute. You’ll receive additional instructions to complete your setup.

Pair the new receiver with a WAP

Note:
Do not turn off your receiver or TV during this process.
  1. On the front of the WAP, press the WPS button.
  2. On the front of your new receiver, press the OK button within two minutes. Pairing occurs quickly.
  3. Confirm that at least three LED green bars are lit on the wireless receiver. When you see a green LED lit on the front of the receiver, you’ve paired successfully. It may take a few minutes for live TV to appear.

Troubleshoot connection error on the TV
If you see a red antenna or connection error after pairing your new receiver with your WAP:
  1. Disconnect your wireless receiver from the original location and reconnect the power cord at a location closer to the WAP.
  2. Reconnect the receiver to the TV.
  3. Wait one minute for the receiver software to load.
  4. Press the WPS button on the WAP.
  5. Press the OK button on the front of the wireless TV receiver within two minutes.
  6. Wait two minutes for the receiver and WAP to pair. The Link light on the front of the wireless receiver should be solid green.
  7. Following a successful pairing, unplug the wireless receiver and reconnect it at the desired location.
  8. Repeat steps 2 - 6.
  9. If the connection error reappears after repeating steps 2 - 6, the location is out of wireless range. You’ll need to select a different location.
