Back up and transfer your contacts, texts, emails, photos, and more from one device to another or to a computer.

Before you start to transfer your info, make sure:

  • You have a Wi-Fi® connection.
  • Your device is charged.

Apple

First, confirm you have the latest iOS® software version on both devices.

  1. Go to Settings, then tap General.
  2. Tap Software Update.
  3. Download the latest version if you see Download and Install.

Then, use Apple QuickStart.

Android

You have some choices when transferring data to a new Android device. If you have:

AT&T Personal Cloud

Transfer your contacts, photos, and videos from your iPhone or Android phone.

  1. Sign up and get backup details.
  2. Download and transfer backup info.
  3. Get more info about AT&T Personal Cloud

FYI: If you have AT&T Prepaid®, AT&T Personal Cloud only works with select plans. Sign in to check plan details.

Before you transfer contacts between basic or feature phones, make sure it uses KaiOS.

  1. Go to your phone Settings.
  2. Select Device, then Device Information.

Move contacts from phone memory to a SIM Card

Heads up: To add contacts to a KaiOS phone, you need to have an orange SIM card. You won’t be able to add contacts to a blue SIM card.

  1. Go to Contacts (press the Right Menu key on the home screen).
  2. Highlight any contact.
  3. Press the Right Menu key for Options.
  4. Select Copy Contacts, then Phone Memory.
  5. Choose SIM memory, then select the contacts you want to transfer (press the Left Menu key to select All).

Import contacts to a KaiOS basic phone

  1. You can import contacts from your email, memory card, or Bluetooth. Go to Contacts (press the Right Menu key on the home screen).
  2. Highlight any contact.
  3. Press the Right Menu key for Options.
  4. Select Settings, then Import Contacts.
  5. Choose how you want to import: Gmail or Exchange, Memory Card, or Bluetooth.
  6. Follow the prompts to finish up.

Need more info: Go to att.com/devicesupport or your phone model’s user manual for instructions.

To transfer data, like photos and files, from your smartphone or tablet to your computer, you can:

  • Email: Use your email account on your smartphone or tablet to email photos or other content to yourself. Then, open the email on your computer and download the photos or files.
  • Connect with a USB cable: If your smartphone or tablet came with a USB cable, you can use it to connect your device to your computer and transfer music, pictures, contacts, and other files.

Visit Device support to learn how to transfer files to or from your specific device and a computer. Look under Photos, video & media, then Transfer media to & from a computer.

Backup and restore applications

Check your smartphone or tablet for pre-installed backup and restore apps. Device companies often provide this software. Another option is to install one of the many third-party apps that exist. You can also go to your device’s app store and search for backup.

Some common backup and restore applications include:

  • iCloud (for iPhone and iPad)
  • Samsung Kies (for Samsung devices)
