How long does it take to unlock a device?

If you submit an unlock request, it usually takes a few minutes to approve your request. However, it can take up to 48 hours.

Good to know: Some AT&T devices will auto-unlock once eligible.

Where to check your device unlock status

If you’re an AT&T customer, you can sign in to your account overview and check an individual device’s unlock status.

If you submitted an unlock request, you can also:

• Select the link in the text message or email we sent you about your request.
• If you have your request number and your device IMEI, you can go to att.com/unlockdevicestatus.

Not an AT&T customer?

If you don’t have an AT&T account and want to unlock an AT&T device, submit an unlock request, then confirm your request through the email we send you. Keep in mind, the links in the confirmation emails expire in 24 hours.
