How to send transcribed voice messages to an email address

Voicemail-to-Text message transcription

You can read your voicemail messages as text, send them to email, and print them, thanks to Voicemail-to-Text and the Voicemail Viewer app. This service automatically transcribes voicemail messages and delivers them to your email address. Many Apple and Android devices are supported. 

Note: The quality of transcribed messages may be affected by the caller's pronunciation, background noise or other factors. Short or unclear messages may not be transcribed.

Turn Voicemail-to-Text message transcription on or off

From the Voicemail Viewer app
  1. Select Settings.
  2. Select Transcription to be either on or off.

From your browser

  1. Go to Account overview.
  2. Hover over Home Phone > Check Voice Mail.
  3. Go to Voicemail Settings > under Voicemail box preferences, expand the Message Transcription section.
  4. Select On or Off then select Save.

Set up or change a designated email address

To change the designated email address, follow the steps below.
  1. Go to Account overview.
  2. Hover over Home Phone > Check Voicemail > Voicemail settings.
  3. Under Voicemail box preferences, expand the Message Forwarding section.
  4. Select On.
  5. Select Forward incoming messages and keep original from the drop-down menu.
    • To activate the message management links, perform an action such as Mark as Read when you get your first forwarded message.
    • You'll be asked to authenticate with your pre-populated 10-digit phone number and the PIN used to sign in to your voicemail mailbox.
  6. Enter your forwarding email address in the Email Address field.
  7. Select Include message management links in forwarded message. This allows you to perform actions such as deleting messages or marking them as read.
  8. Select Save.
  9. Expand the Message Transcription section and verify that it is On. If not, select On.
  10. Select Save.
 
Note: If you change your home phone voicemail PIN, you must also change your Voicemail Viewer PIN to match.
