We use an Enhanced 911 (E911) address when you use Wi-Fi Calling on your device. When you call 911, it goes over the cellular network whenever possible. If you use Wi-Fi Calling to call 911:
- Your call is routed based on location data from your device and the Wi-Fi® network.
- Your call will disconnect if you lose the Wi-Fi connection.
If we aren’t sure of your location, we’ll send your E911 address to 911 dispatchers. Keep in mind, E911 may not be as reliable as regular 911 service.
Be sure to update the E911 address of your Wi-Fi Calling location, so we can find you. You can change your address in the device settings where you turn on Wi-Fi Calling or in your myAT&T Profile.
Update the e911 address for a device
- Go to your myAT&T Profile. Sign in, if asked.
- Scroll to My linked accounts and select Manage your e911 address.
- Choose the wireless number you’d like to update and select Edit.
- Update your address details, then select Save.
FYI: If you don’t have an address listed, you have to enter your address details in the device settings where you turn on Wi-Fi Calling.
