Set up text messages for password resets

Ever have to reset your sign-in password? Follow these steps to get a text with your temporary password next time.

If you don’t have an AT&T Wireless number

Go to Profile, then Contact info.
On the Phone tab, select Edit in the Billing phone numbers section.
Enter your wireless number as the primary or secondary number.
Check the box next to Use this number to recover your user ID or reset your password.
Select Save.
Complete any confirmation steps sent to your wireless number within 24 hours. Text message rates and other charges may apply. Check with your plan and provider.

Heads up: It can take up to 30 days before you can use this wireless number to reset your password.

It's easier to reset your password if you assign your AT&T Wireless number to your user ID. We can text you the temporary password.

Go to Profile and sign in with your AT&T Mail address and password.
Select Sign-in info.
Scroll to My linked accounts and select Manage email.
Select Edit user information.
Enter your wireless number and check Use this number to reset your password.
Select Save Changes.
Complete any final steps sent to your wireless number within 24 hours. Text message rates and other charges may apply if you don’t have an AT&T Wireless number. Check with your plan and provider.
