# Learn about the AT&T Secure Family app
Do your children have smart devices? Use Secure Family to locate your family's devices, manage their internet use, block apps or websites, and more.

AT&T Secure Family® helps your family members stay connected and safe online and on the go. Use it to manage your children’s online activity with easy parental controls.
Secure Family works in the AT&T coverage area and within the U.S. Some features may not work outside this area. Location accuracy can vary by device and network connection.
### Compatible devices
Use the AT&T Secure Family and the AT&T Secure Family Companion apps with these devices:
- Apple® iPhones and tablets with iOS® 17 or higher. If your tablet has display issues, install and use the iOS mobile phone app.
- Android smartphones and tablets with Android® 13.0 or higher. If your tablet has display issues, install and use the Android mobile phone app.
__FYI:__ Parent and child devices can use different operating systems.
### Get started
- Sign up for [AT&T Secure Family](https://www.att.com#FAQ) online, in the AT&T app, or in the Secure Family app. Only the primary account owner can sign up. It’s $12 per month after a free 30-day trial. The subscription renews each month unless you cancel.
- Download the Secure Family app to the parent device (primary account owner).
- Add the Secure Family Companion app to the child’s devices to pair them with yours. Send an invite by text or email, or scan a QR from the child’s device.
- Accept all location permissions when joining the Secure Family account to support Driving Insights. Family members with Android devices are also prompted to accept a Physical Activity permission. Note: To enable Secure Family, the primary account owner must give their consent for Secure Family to collect data from their child’s device related to location, driving, and web activity.
__FYI:__ Secure Family supports up to 10 family member profiles and 30 family devices. You can also invite family members who use other U.S. wireless service providers.

- __Trip details:__ Explore a complete view of each trip with distance, duration, route timeline, and a breakdown of driving activity.
- __Passenger role:__ Get insights into trips even when your family member is a passenger, helping build awareness across every ride.
- __Trip alerts:__ Receive timely notifications when a trip ends, so you can stay informed without constant check-ins.
- __Drive score:__ Get a detailed score breakdown for both the driver and passenger, including the top speed and risky driving events recorded during the trip.
- __Trip score:__ See a simple score for each drive that reflects key driving patterns, helping highlight trends over time.
- __Collision detection:__ Be notified when a potential collision is detected based on device data, with options to quickly connect or access helpful info.
- __Trip ranking:__ Turn driving progress into a shared experience by comparing scores and tracking driving trends across the family.

### Internet access features
- __Block internet:__ Turn off internet access temporarily for your child, like during homework time.
- __Set internet and app time limits:__ Schedule daily limits for your child’s Internet use or favorite apps.
### Web and app filters
Choose age-based settings to control what your child can see online: High for young users, Medium for preteens, or Low for teens.
- __Website and app blocks:__ Block apps and websites based on your child’s age or choose your own settings.
- __Screen time limits:__ Limit daily internet and app use across your child’s monitored phones, tablets, and iPads.
- __Usage reports:__ Get daily, weekly, or monthly reports on your child’s web and app us.
- __App purchase restrictions:__ Block the App Store® or Google Play™ store to help stop app and content purchases.
- __Internet countdown:__ Show your child when internet access will turn off or back on.

### Notifications and usage info
- __Emergency alert:__ Family member need help? They can send an SOS alert to everyone with one tap.
- __Tamper alert:__ Get an app notification or text if your child tries to turn off location permissions or disable the Secure Family Companion app.
- __Battery status:__ Check a family member’s phone battery and get an alert when it drops below 15%.
- __Lost phone ring:__ Ring a lost phone for up to two minutes to help find it.

Use the Digital Wellness guide to help protect your child’s online safety and wellbeing. Created by digital health and wellness experts, it covers topics like:

What can you do with the AT&T Secure Family Companion app?
The companion app lets you:
- __Get notices for blocked content:__ Find out when your child tries to open blocked apps or websites.
- __Use the Family map:__ Share your location with your child or family member, if you choose.
- __Receive an emergency alert:__ Your child can alert family members if they need help.
- __View web and app use:__ See how much time your child spends online, along with detailed breakdowns by app, website, and content type.
- __See an internet countdown:__ Know when internet access for your child will turn off or back on.
How do I sign up for Secure Family from the AT&T website?
If you have an AT&T Wireless plan and you’re the primary account owner:
1. Go to your [wireless add-ons](https://www.att.com/acctmgmt/wireless/manage-addon "Link opens in new window"). Sign in, if asked.
2. Scroll to __Get new add-ons__ and select __AT&T Secure Family__.
3. Select __Add to device__.
After you sign up, download the Secure Family app and the Secure Family Companion app from the [Apple App Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/at-t-secure-family/id353334746 "Link opens in new window") or [Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wavemarket.waplauncher&hl=en_US&gl=US "Link opens in new window") store.
Can I sign up for AT&T Secure Family through the AT&T app?
Yes! If you have AT&T Wireless and you’re the primary account owner:
1. Sign in to the AT&T app.
2. Tap __Devices__, then choose the line you want to update.
3. Scroll to and tap __View all options & settings__.
4. Choose __Device info__ and then __Explore other add-ons__.
5. Select __AT&T Secure Family__, then __Add to device__.
