BYOD stands for “Bring your own device,” which is a popular choice for many prepaid customers. If you have a phone, tablet or mobile hotspot that you already own, you can activate it with a prepaid plan as long as it is compatible with AT&T and is unlocked. To check compatibility, click here

If your device is unlocked, most iPhones 6 and newer models work with AT&T Prepaid.

If you’re bringing your own phone (BYOD), use our AT&T Prepaid Online Activation page to get started. For AT&T Prepaid phones purchased from att.com and have a physical SIM, it’s as easy as turning on your new phone. The SIM is already installed and ready to go. Phones with an eSIM can be activated by following the device specific instructions on our eSIM Get Started guide. 

Yes. Bring your compatible unlocked device, including iPhones, and save on the cost of a new one. You’ll just need to purchase an AT&T Prepaid SIM card.

All PREPAID customers can take advantage of the convenience of AutoPay. Plus, customers enrolled in a PREPAID Unlimited plan with AutoPay also receive a monthly discount.

Both PREPAID Unlimited plans offer a monthly discount when you enroll in AutoPay. Some older monthly plans have discounts too, you can see them by signing in to att.com/myprepaid.

Monthly plan customers are charged on the 29^th day of service.
12-month plan customers are charged on the 359^th day of service.
3-month plan customers are charged on the 89^th day of service.
Our other non-monthly customers are charged 1 day before balance expiration.

Your phone should automatically connect to the AT&T 5G network if the following conditions are met:

   • Your phone’s network and battery/power settings are configured to allow 5G connections
   • Your AT&T Prepaid plan includes 5G access
   • You are physically located in an area with access to the AT&T 5G network
