Activate your tablet or laptop using eSIM

Newer tablets and laptops use an eSIM to activate a wireless plan. Learn how to download yours.

iPads with an eSIM

If your iPad uses an eSIM, you may be asked to install a wireless plan when you set it up. If you aren't asked, you can install one now:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select the AT&T Cellular Plan Ready to be Installed notification.
  3. Follow the prompts on your device to add a plan.

If you can't download your eSIM with these steps, activate your iPad first.

Tablets with a SIM card

If your iPad or Android® tablet uses a SIM card, just make sure that your e and inserted into your device. Learn more about device activation.

eSIM on Windows laptop

Activate your eSIM by downloading an eSIM profile directly onto your laptop. Here’s how:

 
  1. Connect your laptop to Wi-Fi® and open Settings.
  2. Select Network & Internet > Cellular > eSIM profiles (or Manage eSIM profiles on Windows 10).
  3. Select Search for available profiles, and then Next.
  4. When an available profile appears, select Download. Follow the prompts to install your eSIM.

eSIM on Windows laptop (QR Code)

You can activate your eSIM using a QR code provided by AT&T. Here’s how:  

 
  1. Connect your laptop to Wi-Fi® and open Settings.
  2. Select Network & Internet > Cellular > eSIM profiles (or Manage eSIM profiles on Windows 10).
  3. Select Add profile > Let me enter an activation code I have from my mobile operator > Next.
  4. Select the laptop camera you’ll use to scan the QR code on your AT&T eSIM activation card. Scan the code and follow the prompts to download and install your eSIM.
