Video Calling with Google Duo

Make and receive video calls using Google Duo.

To make and receive video calls, all Google Duo participants need a video call capable device (running Android 7 or later) with Google Duo installed. All calls, including international, are made through your mobile data plan or a Wi-Fi connection. If you use your mobile data, charges may apply. For more details, visit Learn About Google Duo.

In this tutorial, you will learn how to:

• Set up Google Duo
• Make a video call
• Respond to an incoming call
• Video call options
• Access Google Duo settings

Set up Google Duo

1. From the home screen, click the Launcher icon then click the Expand icon.

2. Select the Duo app

Note: Upon first access, you will be prompted to allow access to your micropone and camera. Select Give access, then select the desired allowances to continue. For more information, please visit Set up Google Duo

3. Click Give access under Find friends and Show yourself.

Note: Review the permission promts and select ALLOW or WHILE USING THE APP

Make a video call

1. Click the desired contact.

Note: In order to make a call, both users must be signed in to Google Duo. Click Invite then follow the prompts to invite a contact to Google Duo.

2. Click Video call to begin a video call.

Make a group video call

1. Click Create group.

2. Click the desired contacts, then click Done

Note: You can add up to 32 people to the video call. The person talking is shown on screen at that time. Group video calling may not work for those using a different mobile operator.

2. Click Start to begin a video call.

Respond to an incoming call

Click ANSWER to accept the call or click DECLINE to decline the call.

Video call options

Click the screen, then click the desired option:

MUTE: Click the Mute icon.
END CALL: Click the End call icon.
HIDE CAMERA: Click the Hide camera icon.
 

To use your Chromebook while on a video call, click the desired app, the Launcher icon or the Quick settings panel.

To return to the call window, click the Quick settings panel then click the active call notification

Access Google Duo settings

1. Click the menu icon Menu icon then click Settings.

2. Edit settings as desired.
