In this tutorial, you will learn how to:

• Access messages
• Compose & send a message
• Read & respond to a new message
• Delete a message

 

When a new message is received, the New Message icon New Message icon will display in the Notification bar.



Access messages

1. From the home screen, select the messages Messages app.

2. Select the Compose message icon. Enter the desired number or select the desired contact to message.

Compose & send a message

Compose and send a message using the following options as desired:

• ENTER RECIPIENT: Select the 'Recipient' field to enter a recipient. Select the add Add contact icon to create a groupchat.
• ENTER MESSAGE: Select the 'Enter message' field to enter the desired message.
• ADD ATTACHMENT: Select the arrow Add icon to send a sticker, a Gif or to add an attachment.
• SEND PHOTOS: Select the Photo icon to attach a photo or video from the Gallery 
• TAKE A PHOTO: Select the Camera icon to take a photo or video
• SEND A MESSAGE: When finished composing a message, select the Send icon to send the message.

Note: To add additional recipient(s) to a new Group Message, enter or select the additional contact(s), then select the 'Enter message' field. To remove recipient(s) before sending the message, backspace over the contact or long-press the desired contact and select the X icon X icon over the desired contact(s).


Read & respond to a new message

From the Messaging inbox, select the desired message thread.

VIEW/SAVE AN ATTACHMENT: To view an attachment, select the desired attachment. To save an attachment, select Save attachment icon.

RESPOND TO A MESSAGE: Select the desired option:

• REPLY: Enter the desired message in the 'text/chat' field, then select the Send icon.
• FORWARD: Select and hold the desired message, then select the menu Menu icon. Select Forward and follow the prompts to forward a message.



Delete a message

From the desired message thread, select and hold the desired message > Delete. Select the Delete to confirm.

DELETE MESSAGE THREAD: From the Messages screen, select and hold the desired message thread then select the Delete icon. Select Delete again to confirm.

Tips

• If the chat feature is turned on and you are messaging another device also using Advanced Messaging from AT&T, you can share files up to 100MB, have groups up to 100 people, get delivery/read receipts, and see when someone is replying. If Chat Features is not enabled, you can share files up to 1 MB. Check Messages > Settings > Chat Features to manage RCS on your device.

• By default, attachments will be saved to the Downloads folder in the Gallery app. To view saved attachments, from the home screen select the gallery Gallery app > Albums tab > Messages.

• If you prefer to use the Samsung messaging application instead, from the app tray, select the Samsung folder, and select the Messages app. To place the Messages app on your home screen, select and hold the app, then select Add To Home.
