Take a Picture or Video

Take and edit a picture or video, use the front and rear camera, and switch between camera and video modes.

  1. ACCESS CAMERA: From the home screen, select the Camera app.

    Note: Alternately, you can access the camera from the lock screen by selecting and dragging the Camera icon up, or by pressing the Power/Lock button twice. This device has a 8MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. The video recorder is 1080p at 30fps.

  2. SWITCH BETWEEN CAMERAS: To switch between front and rear camera, select the Switch camera icon.

  3. CHANGE CAMERA MODE: Swipe right, then select the desired camera mode.

  4. FOCUS THE CAMERA: Touch the desired area of the photo you wish to focus on. A circle will appear when the area is selected.

  5. ZOOM IN/OUT: Move two fingers apart towards the edge of the screen to zoom in. Move two fingers inward towards the middle of the screen to zoom out.

  6. TAKE A PHOTO: Select the Shutter icon.

  7. RECORD A VIDEO: Select the Video Record icon, then select Record icon.

  8. RESUME/STOP A RECORDING: To pause a recording, select the Pause icon. To resume recording, select the Resume icon. To stop recording, select the Stop icon. Select the Shutter icon to take a picture while recording.

    Note: Videos are automatically saved when recording ends.

  9. ACCESS AND SHARE PHOTOS & VIDEOS: From the Camera screen, select the gallery icon to access your photos and videos. Select the Share icon on the desired photo or video, then follow the prompts to share.

    Note: Photos and videos can also be viewed from the home screen by selecting the Photos app.

  10. GOOGLE LENS: Use Google Lens to translate text, identify products, places, animals, and plants. To use Google Lens, select the Google Lens icon from the Camera app.

    Note: Upon first access, information about Google Lens will appear. Select Continue > Get Started > review the permission prompts and select ALLOW to continue. Learn more about Google Lens here.

  11. Hold the camera in front of the desired object or text and select it on the screen. Once Google Lens has identified the object or text, choose the desired option to continue.
