Learn and customize the home screen
Add shortcuts and widgets, access the notification panel, changing wallpaper, and more.
- The home screen consists of various tiles to the applications on your device that function as a tablet. The desktop is very similar to the desktop of a PC computer that enables you to do file management and utilize the tablet as a computer.
- Tap the Start icon or Windows button.
Then tap Settings.
- Tap Personalization.
- Under the Background tab, select the desired Background, then adjust settings as desired.
Note: For this tutorial, Picture was selected.
- Under the Colors tab, tap on the desired accent color. The screen will show a preview in the background as you are making changes.
- When completed, tap the Back icon to return to settings.
- Tap anywhere outside the Quick settings menu to return to the Start screen.
- To move the position of an app tile, tap and hold the Desired tile.
- Touch and drag the tile to the new Desired location and release.
- To name a group of tiles, tap in the Group name field.
- Enter the Desired name for the group.
- Close the keyboard by tapping the X icon.
- To add a new tile for an app on one of the start screens, touch the Menu icon to reveal the Apps list.
- Touch and hold the desired app.
- Tap Pin to Start.
- The new tile will appear on the Start screen. To resize the tile, tap and hold on the Added tile until the app is highlighted.
- Tap the App Menu icon.
- Select the Desired tile size.
Note: In this example, it is small.
- The tile is resized. To remove an app tile from the home screen, touch and hold the Desired app.
- Tap the Unpin from Start icon.
Note: This action does not uninstall the app from the device.
- To add an app to the taskbar of the desktop, tap and hold the desired app tile, then select More options.
- Tap Pin to Taskbar.
- The app tile is added to the taskbar in desktop mode.
