The Home Base works exclusively with the AT&T cellular network and DOES NOT use your home phone wall jacks.
Your device should be located (1.) Where you have a strong cellular signal from a cell tower, typically near a window or outside wall. Signal strength may vary in different parts of your home. (2.) Near an electrical wall outlet. (3.) In the general area where you’ll be using your home phone, computer or Wi-Fi enabled devices.
If you are transferring a phone number from a prior provider, it may take up to 5 days to transfer the number to the Home Base. During that time, you can make calls immediately on your Home Base. However, you must keep a phone plugged into your wall jack to receive calls on your old service until your transfer completes. Check transfer status at att.com/port.
If power is lost, the Home Base can run on its back-up battery for up to 18 hours in standby mode and provide up to 1.5 hours of talk time. A corded phone will be required to make and receive calls, as the Home Base does not supply power to your home phone.
The Home Base is not compatible with messaging services (including text messaging and multimedia messaging services), and other services including but not limited to home security systems, fax service, medical alert systems, medical monitoring systems, credit card machines, IP/PBX Phone systems, or dial-up Internet service. It may not be compatible with your home answering machines, DVR systems, and Satellite systems (please check with your service provider).
The following services are not supported by the Home Base: any calls with a 500, 700, 900, 976 prefix, 0+ collect calls, operator assisted calls, or dial-around calls (e.g., 1010-XXXX).
E911 service is supported by the Home Base, however, you should expect to provide your exact address to the emergency dispatcher.
The Home Base can be used in the following regions: USA, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands. If the device is used on other carrier networks, AT&T’s off-net usage restrictions apply. Please see section 4.5 of your Wireless Customer Agreement for details.
The Home Base supports international calling, but it must first be activated on your AT&T account. Dial 611 from the connected phone, or 1-800-331-0500 to add international calling capability to your account.
