Reset device

Learn how to perform a soft and factory reset of the device.

A master reset reverts the device back to factory settings. It will permanently erase all personal data, preferences, settings and content such as pictures, ringtones and apps that are saved to the device. It is recommended that you save (backup) important data to the cloud or a computer before proceeding.
From the Start screen, swipe left.
Scroll to, then tap Settings.
Scroll to, then tap about.
Tap reset your phone.
Tap yes.
Tap yes.
The device will now perform a factory reset.
To perform an alternative reset via hardware, first ensure that the device is powered off.
Press and hold the Power key until the device vibrates, then release.
Press and hold the Down volume key.
An exclamation mark will be displayed. Release the Down volume key.
Press the Volume up key.
Press the Volume down key.
Press the Power key.
Press the Volume down key.
The device will now perform a factory reset.
