This article explains the available functions on your AT&T Wireless Home Phone.

AT&T Wireless Home Phone works exclusively with the AT&T cellular network and DOES NOT use your home phone wall jacks. Your device should be located: Where you have a strong cellular signal from a cell tower, typically near a window or outside wall and near an electrical wall outlet.
If you are transferring a phone number from a prior provider, it may take up to 5 days to transfer the number to the Wireless Home Phone Base. During that time, you can make calls immediately on your Wireless Home Phone Base. However, you must keep a phone plugged into your wall jack to receive calls on your old service until your transfer completes. Check transfer status at att.com/port.
AT&T Wireless Home Phone Base does not support your home security systems, fax machines, dial-up or DSL Internet service, DVR services, medical alert services (e.g. Life Alert), or credit card machines. The service cannot be used to make 500, 700, 900, 976, 0+ collect, operator assisted, or dial-around calls (e.g. 1010-XXXX).The device does not support data services (e.g. texting, multimedia message services (MMS), and data tethering).
Avoid placing the WHP Base Unit near sources of electromagnetic interference such as Wi-Fi routers and cordless base stations for optimum call clarity and reception. The WHP Base Unit may also interfere with the operation of electronic medical devices such as hearing aids or pacemakers, consult a physician or AT&T before use.

If power is lost, the Wireless Home Phone can run on its back-up battery for approximately 36 hours in standby mode and provide up to 3.5 hours of talk time. A corded phone will be required to make and receive calls, as the Wireless Home Phone Base does not supply power to your home phone.
The following hardware is not supported by the AT&T Wireless Home Phone: rotary or pulse-dialing phones, home security services, fax machines, dial-up or DSL internet services, DVR services, medical alert services (e.g. Life Alert), or credit card machines.
The following services are not supported by the AT&T Wireless Home Phone: any calls with a 500, 700, 900, 976 prefix, 0+ collect calls, operator assisted calls, or dial-around calls (e.g., 1010-XXXX). Data services like texting (SMS), media texting (MMS), and data tethering are also not supported.
E911 service is supported by the AT&T Wireless Home Phone, however you should expect to provide your exact address to the emergency dispatcher.
The AT&T Wireless Home Phone may be integrated into your existing home phone system, however use of a qualified licensed electrician is highly recommended. Improper installation may result in phone equipment damage or a fire.
The AT&T Wireless Home Phone can be used in the following regions: USA, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands. If the device is used on other carrier networks, AT&T’s off-net usage restrictions apply. Please see section 4.5 of your Wireless Customer Agreement for details.
The AT&T Wireless Home Phone supports international calling, but it must first be activated on your AT&T account. Dial 611 from the connected phone, or 1-800-331-0500 to add international calling capability to your account.
