- Select a text field to see the onscreen keyboard, and then select letters to type.
- To copy text, select and hold the text, then select Select to select a single word or Select All to select everything. Expand or reduce the selection by selecting and dragging the end points as desired. When the desired text is highlighted, select Copy.
- To paste, select and hold the desired location in the text field then select Paste.
- Select the Shift key to type uppercase, or select the Shift key and slide to a letter.
- Double-tap the Shift key for caps lock.
- To enter numbers, punctuation, or symbols, select the 123 key. For more symbols, select the #+= key.
Note: To return to the alphabet keyboard, select the ABC key. - For Emojis, select the Emoji key.

- To quickly end a sentence with a period and a space, double-tap the space bar.
- As you write, QuickType uses predictive text to anticipate your next word. Select a word to choose it.
- Accept a highlighted prediction by entering a space or punctuation.
- Reject a suggestion by selecting your original word (shown as a QuickType option with quotation marks).
Note: If you reject the same suggestion a few times, iPhone stops suggesting it. If you see a word underlined in red, select it to see suggested corrections. If the word you want doesn't appear, type the correction. - To set options for typing, from the home screen select the Settings app > scroll to and select General > Keyboard > edit Keyboard settings as desired.
