Getting started

The Windows 10 upgrade is an opt-in experience:
  1. Download and install the Windows 10 Upgrade Advisor app from the Windows app store.
  2. Check Enable in the Windows Upgrade Advisor app to get the upgrade.
  3. You can download the update via Firmware Over The Air (FOTA). 
  4. A Wi-Fi connection is required for the update.
  5. Although there should be no impacts to settings or data, we recommend that you back up your media files to a PC, or by using a favorite application, prior to upgrading the software. You won’t be able to use your phone while the update installs.

The Windows 10 operating system update includes:
  • Built-in Applications – photos, maps, messaging, music, video and more.
  • Cortana – personal assistant
  • Improved multi-task and organize capability for improved productivity
  • OneDrive - online storage
  • Secureboot – supports quick and secure reboot
  • Windows Defender - malicious malware protection
  • Windows Store – for access to hundreds of thousands of applications.

Update & verify software

To update the software
  1. Make sure your device is sufficiently charged and connected to Wi-Fi.
  2. From the Windows store, download and install the Windows 10 Upgrade Advisor app to your device.
  3. Open the Windows 10 Upgrade Advisor app and enable the checkbox for Enable Windows 10 Upgrade.
  4. If the upgrade is available, follow the prompts to download and install the upgrade.
  5. If the upgrade isn't yet available for your device, you'll see a message advising the update is not yet available and to check back at a later date.
  6. If the device isn't eligible at all for the upgrade to Windows 10, you will see a screen informing you of the same.

You may also manually check for update availability by:
  1. From the Start screen, scroll to and tap Settings.
  2. Scroll to and tap Phone update.
  3. Tap Check for update.
  4. The device will determine if new software is available, and begin downloading the software update.
  5. When complete, a completion message will be displayed.

To verify the update
  1. From the Start screen, scroll down and tap Settings > About > More Info.
  2. Your device has the latest software if the Windows, Baseband, and Software versions match the current update details.
