Getting started

  1. You can download the update via Firmware Over the Air (FOTA). 
  2. You must connect your device to Wi-Fi to download the update.
  3. Although there should be no impacts to settings or data, we recommend that you back up your media files to a PC, or by using a favorite application, prior to upgrading the software. 
  4. The update should take approximately 15 to 20 minutes depending on Wi-Fi speed. 
  5. You won't be able to use your phone while the update installs.
  6. Software updates are not cumulative and do not include prior software updates. Customers who failed to update their device with any prior released software updates will first be required to update with all preceding software updates before updating to the latest software update.

Update & verify software

To update the software
  1. Make sure your device is sufficiently charged and connected to Wi-Fi.
  2. From the Start screen, scroll to and tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to and tap Phone update.
  4. Tap Check for update.
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update.
  6. The device automatically restarts once the new software successfully installs.

To verify the update
  1. From the Start screen, scroll down to and tap Settings > About > More info > Firmware version. 
  2. The device has the latest software if the OS version and Firmware match the current update details.
