Internet Air for Business Wi-Fi Extender

How to attach and troubleshoot an extender.

INSTRUCTIONS & INFO

In this tutorial, you will learn how to:

• Pair an extender with your AT&T 5G Gateway
• Wi-Fi extender placement and proximity

• Update your device

• Factory reset the extender

Pair an extender with your AT&T 5G Gateway

1. Using the included power adapter, plug in the gateway by inserting the power adapter into the DC Power Port and plug the attachment plug into your electrical outlet. When your device is powered on, it automatically searches for and connects to the AT&T mobile broadband network. This will take approximately 2-3 minutes.

Note: For the best experience, place the extender within three feet of the 5G Gateway during setup.

2. Press the WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) button on the back of the 5G Gateway. The Wi-Fi LED will flash blue.

Note: Alternately, connect one end of an Ethernet cable to an Ethernet port on the main gateway. Connect the other end to the Ethernet cable to an Ethernet port on the extender. When setup is complete, the Mesh LED light on the extender will illuminate solid green.

4. When a connection between devices is established, Wi-Fi LED light on both the extender and 5G Gateway will change to solid blue. When setup is complete, the Mesh LED light on the extender will illuminate solid green. Move extender to the desired location.

Note: The extender will share the same network name and password as the 5G Gateway it’s paired with. For more information on connecting your device to the 5G Gateway, please see the Connect Devices to Wi-Fi or Connect PC or Mac to Wi-Fi tutorials. For additional information, please see the Extender Quick Start Guide included with your device.

Wi-Fi extender placement and proximity

The extender should be placed within wireless range of the 5G Gateway, no more than 30 feet away. The design and structure of your environment may impact performance. For best results, position the extender closer so the Mesh LED illuminates green.

Note: If the Mesh LED is blue or red, try relocating the extender closer to the gateway or extender it’s paired with to get a stronger mesh connection. Network performance and internet speeds may vary due to proximity, connection method, or number of extenders connected. No more than three extenders recommended. Internet service sold separately. 5G available only in 5G coverage areas.

Update your device

Your Wi-Fi extender will periodically check for updates, including after each device power cycle. Most updates will be automatically installed overnight. If an update requires manual installation, the system light will illuminate solid blue until the update has been completed.

Note: Your internet access may be momentarily interrupted while the installation is taking place, and the device is rebooting. To manually complete a firmware update, from your device’s web browser, go to http://attwifi.manager. Enter your password, then click Login. From the dashboard, click Wi-Fi Extender tile. The status will update to indicate if an update is available. Click Update available > Check for update > your Wi-Fi extender will power cycle upon successful completion.

Factory reset the extender

A factory reset will erase all configuration settings and put the device back to its factory state. With the extender on its side, use a Sim Tool to press and hold the Reset button on the bottom of the extender. The extender will take a moment to reset.
