Install or remove the SIM and attach an external antenna.

In this tutorial, you will learn how to:

 

• Install a SIM card
• Remove a SIM card
• Add an external antenna
• Pair an extender with your AT&T 5G Gateway

This device comes with a pre-installed SIM, however, should you need to replace your SIM, follow these instructions. When a SIM is not installed in the device, a red LED light will blink. If a new SIM is needed, contact AT&T, or visit an AT&T store.


 

Install a SIM card

1. With the device on its side, use the notch to lift up the SIM Card Cover located on the bottom of the device.

2. Rotate the SIM Card Cover to open.

3. Insert the nano SIM card into the SIM Card Slot with the notched edge going in first and the gold contacts facing down. Press down until the SIM card clicks into place.

4. Rotate SIM Card Cover and press it back into place.

Remove a SIM card

1. With the device on its side, use the notch to lift up the SIM Card Cover located on the bottom of the device.

2. Rotate the SIM Card Cover to open.

3. Press down on the SIM card until the SIM card ejects out of the SIM Card Slot then remove the SIM card.

4. Rotate SIM Card Cover and press it back into place.

Add an external antenna

1. Mount the antenna vertically in your chosen configuration and location.
 
Note: External antennas are sold separately. Please see the Quick Start Guide included with your device for instructions on the various different mounting options.
 
2. Remove the protective covers on the 2 SMA connectors at the end of the cable.

3. Remove the antenna cover on the back of the 5G Gateway by lifting up from the tab at the bottom of the antenna cover.

4. Attach both antenna connectors to the SMA connector ports on the back of the 5G Gateway.

5. From your device’s web browser, go to http://attwifi.manager. Enter your password, then click Login.

 

Note: Ensure that your device is connected to your 5G Gateway's Wi-Fi network. For more information, please see the Connect Devices to Wi-Fi or Connect PC or Mac to Wi-Fi tutorials. If this is your first time logging into the Web admin page, the default password will be ‘admin’. You may be prompted to change the admin password.

6. From the web manager's dashboard, click Antenna.

7. Click External then click Save.

Pair an extender with your AT&T 5G Gateway

1. Using the included power adapter, plug in the 5G Gateway by inserting the power adapter into the DC Power Port and plug the attachment plug into your electrical outlet. When your device is powered on, it automatically searches for and connects to the AT&T mobile broadband network. This will take approximately 2-3 minutes. 

 

Note: For the best experience, place the extender within three feet of the 5G Gateway during setup.

2. Press the WPS button on the back of the 5G Gateway. The Wi-Fi LED will flash blue.

3. Press the WPS button on the back of the extender.

4. When a connection between devices is established, Wi-Fi LED light on both the extender and 5G Gateway will change to solid blue. When setup is complete, the Mesh LED light on the extender will illuminate solid green. Move extender to the desired location.
 
Note: The extender will share the same network name and password as the 5G Gateway it’s paired with.
