Turn data off or on for eligible devices

Learn how to turn off data on your device to avoid hitting your data plan limit.

Check your data usage

When your device isn’t connected to Wi-Fi®, it uses wireless data to stream movies and music, make video calls, play games on your device, and more. Here’s how to check your current data usage:

  1. Go to your myAT&T usage center. Sign in, if asked.
  2. Choose a wireless number to see it’s talk, text, and data usage.

Turn data off and on

  1. Go to your myAT&T usage center. Sign in, if asked.
  2. Select the line to update.
  3. Choose the Data tab, then Manage data usage.
  4. Turn Cellular Data Off or On for the devices you want to manage.

Note: If you turn data back on after turning it off, you should restart your device.

Things to know about turning off data

Authorized account users may suspend data for each device on the plan. When data is turned off for a device, it:

  • Remains off until the end of the current billing period, unless it is turned back on
  • Will have data reactivated at the start of the next billing period
  • Can still connect to Wi-Fi
  • Won’t use data from shared plans
  • Still has monthly charges
