Get a PIN to transfer your wireless number

Want to move your wireless number to another service provider? Learn how to request a Number Transfer PIN from AT&T.

About Number Transfer PINs

In most cases, you’ll need a Number Transfer PIN (and required account info) to transfer your number from AT&T to another service provider. This helps protect you from number transfers you did not authorize.

Please remember:

  • Your device must be eligible to unlock before you request a Number Transfer PIN or sign up with a new provider.
  • Using your device with your new service provider? Make sure your device is eligible to unlock and  request the Number Transfer PIN before signing up with them.
  • Don’t disconnect your AT&T service before asking a new service provider to transfer your number. If you disconnect your AT&T number, you’ll have to reactivate it before your request can be completed.

FYI: If you have Wireless Account Lock turned on, you won’t be able to transfer your number. Learn how to turn off Wireless Account Lock

Get a Number Transfer PIN

Request your Number Transfer PIN close to the time you’ll submit the transfer request to the new provider. You can use a single Number Transfer PIN for all numbers that are on the same account. The Number Transfer PIN will expire four days after you request it. If you need a new one, you can ask for another by following the same steps.
